Captain Marvel and Brie Larson Aren’t Being Recommended by for The Oscars by Disney

Disney might have started its Oscar campaign for films like Avengers: Endgame and The Lion King, but it looks like the Mickey Mouse House doesn't plan on pushing Captain Marvel for any category at the Academy Awards next year.

The Mickey Mouse House just recently announced the slate of movies that the studio is planning to recommend for the Oscars next year, however, it seems like Captain Marvel and Brie Larson are nowhere to be found in Disney's list of films being pushed for the Academy Awards.

Instead, the studio is pushing for only one Marvel film – Avengers: Endgame. Movies like Aladdin, Toy Story 4, The Lion King, and Frozen 2, have also been included in the studio's "For Your Consideration" website.

Captain Marvel's absence may come as a surprise to fans. There was a lot of fuss before the film's release earlier this year. Anticipation built up over Marvel's first-ever female-led comic book movie. However, despite the film's commercial and critical success, it seems like Disney has decided to focus on Endgame instead.

Some might attribute this to the controversy that surrounded Captain Marvel before and after the film's release. Larson experienced a lot of backlash because of the way she handled interviews for the film – fans found the actress a bit too defensive for their liking when answering questions that she felt were attacks on her person. While the film was met with general favor, some fans felt like the film had been forced and that Captain Marvel was way too overpowered to become relatable.

Captain Marvel might have been built to be the new leader of the Avengers, however, Carol Danvers' future in the MCU has been put to question with Marvel's Phase 4 line-up.

What do you think of Captain Marvel's absence in Disney's "For Your Consideration" page? Could Marvel's strongest Avenger have lost favor from the Mickey Mouse House? Feel free to share your thoughts in the comment section below.
