Captain America’s Team In Infinity War Confirmed To Be The Secret Avengers

The Russo brothers might not have explicitly given Captain America (Chris Evans) and his team a name when they appeared in Avengers: Infinity War, but it turns out that Cap, Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) and the Falcon (Anthony Mackie) formed the Secret Avengers in the movie.

The digital release of Infinity War just recently broke out, and in it fans get an audio commentary from the film's director's, Joe and Anthony Russo. In the commentary (via Screen Rant), Joe discusses the state of the team as they come out of the shadows in the Edinburg sequence of the film and then confirms the group's title as the "Secret Avengers."

"Obviously the Black Order are very powerful: they've got Vision on his heels, they're giving Wanda a run for her money. But what we wanted to illustrate here is that this core group of Avengers, quote-unquote Secret Avengers in Falcon, Widow and Cap are hardened, tough, and work very well as a unit, and surprise the Black Order here. Get the upper hand."

The "Secret Avengers" title has long been associated with Steve and his team online, however, the featurette is the first to officially confirm the name of the group. It's going to be a bit different in Avengers 4 now that Falcon's gone (Sam Wilson was one of the victim's of Thanos finger-snapping massacre at the end of Infinity War), but we're pretty sure that Cap and Black Widow are still going to kick some Mad Titan butt working together.

Avengers 4 hits cinemas May 3, 2019.
