The Marvel Cinematic Universe may have moved onto bigger things but there's absolutely no denying that longtime followers of the billion-dollar franchise are still yearning for its original stars, mainly Robert Downey Jr.
The actor has been away from the MCU spotlight since 2019 and while Tony Stark is clearly dead in Earth-616, many are still hopeful that he'll either be resurrected or an alternate-universe version of himself will emerge from the multiverse.
Turns out, RDJ was actually spotted on set of an upcoming Marvel film and naturally, it's already fueling speculation surrounding his potential Iron Man comeback.
Robert Downey Jr. Fuels MCU Return Speculation After Being Spotted on Captain America 4 Set
According to a LinkedIn post from author Nawar Shora (via Covered Geekly), RDJ was spotted on the set of Captain America: Brave New World around the White House.
Shora claims that the MCU pioneer was seen driving "supercars" with other people, presumably the film's cast and crew. The post reads: "They are filming Captain America 4 around the White House and near my office. I was on a quick errand walk as I noticed all the lights and equipment and finally asked one of the security folks about it."
He added: "He was so talkative and nice, said — (SPOILER) — Robert Downey Jr was there last night and they were driving all sorts of super cars."

Now, it's worth mentioning that the post didn't disclose whether or not RDJ actually filmed scenes while he was on set. If anything, he was probably just there to pay friends a visit but of course, anything can happen in the MCU.
If he does show up in Captain America 4, I think it's already safe to assume that it'll be for a flashback cameo as the film doesn't exactly have a multiversal plot.
