Capcom’s Resident Evil 8 Village Announcement Shocks Fans With Evil Chris Redfield

After numerous rumors and leaks, Capcom officially unveiled Resident Evil 8 Village during last night's PS5 event. The trailer confirmed a number of previous reports, including the existence of werewolves, the fact that it will take place in the mountains, and Ethan returning as the main playable character. That being said, it still looks like an amazing horror experience and one that could divide fans with a seemingly evil Chris Redfield.

The trailer opens with an ominous "His journey comes to a close," and after watching the trailer, it's hard to make out if they mean Ethan or Chris. This is only Ethan's second game and it would be weird if Village ends up being his final game. On the other hand, having this be Chris Redfield's last game when he isn't even the main character could make a lot of people very angry.

Still, it does make for some fun discussion so here's hoping that Capcom makes it a fairly entertaining experience for everyone involved. It looks like Resident Evil 8 is also going back to a first-person camera, while the company's signature RE Engine looks better than ever. Add all of the new horror elements that are being added, and it seems like Capcom is taking a lot of risks with this one.

Resident Evil 8 Village will be coming to PS5 sometime next year, though we're going to assume that it will also hit Xbox Series X and PC. Should be a bloody good time no?
