Prince Charles and Camilla Parker Bowles have been married for almost 20 years, but they have been together for decades. In fact, Prince Charles and Camilla’s love story started in the 1970s, but they both married their former spouses before finding each other again.
Throughout the past couple of years, Prince Charles and Camilla have shared anecdotes about their relationship. And during her interview with Vogue, Camilla Parker Bowles once again shared a rare insight into one of her and Prince Charles’ favorite past times when they were together.
Camilla Parker-Bowles Enjoys Reading In Different Corners Of The Room With Prince Charles
Since Prince Charles and Camilla have very busy schedules, the couple enjoys their quiet time the most. After all, they don’t come by very often.
“It’s not easy sometimes, but we do always try to have a point in the day when we meet. Sometimes it’s like ships passing in the night, but we always sit down together and have a cup of tea and discuss the day. We have a moment. It’s lovely to catch up when we have a bit of time. You know when we go away, the nicest thing is that we actually sit and read our books in different corners of the same room. It’s very relaxing because you know you don’t have to make conversation. You just sit and be together,” she said (via Marie Claire).

Camilla Parker-Bowles Learned To Live With The Scrutiny She Received
During the same interview, Camilla also recounted the time when the public continuously criticized her because of her affair with Prince Charles. The latter was still married to Princess Diana when he started seeing Camilla. And this affair continued until the Prince and Princess of Wales divorced.
“I was scrutinized for such a long time that you just have to find a way to live with it. Nobody likes to be looked at all the time and, you know, criticized and… But I think in the end, I sort of rising above it and get on with it. You’ve got to get on with life,” she said.
Queen Elizabeth, Camilla Parker-Bowles’ Relationship Improved
Despite the criticisms that she received, the Duchess of Cornwall stayed committed to Prince Charles. In fact, she has also been one of Prince Charles’ greatest support systems. Her efforts to support and help Prince Charles was seen by Queen Elizabeth. As such, the monarch recently made a request regarding her daughter-in-law’s future royal role.
“When, in the fullness of time, my son Charles becomes King, I know you will give him and his wife Camilla the same support that you have given me. And it is my sincere wish that, when that time comes, Camilla will be known as Queen Consort as she continues her own loyal service,” the queen said
Royal author Dr. Andrew Lownie also said that Camilla earned her spurs. And the queen now adores her which wasn’t the case many years ago.
