Kate Middleton and Prince William briefly split before they got engaged, and Queen Consort Camilla could be among the reason for the breakup, according to a royal expert. King Charles' wife didn't reportedly find the Princess of Wales worthy of being a member of the firm.
Queen Consort Camilla Involved In Kate Middleton, Prince William's Brief Split?
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge dated for almost a decade before he popped the big question. They also parted ways twice before they decided to tie the knot.
Royal expert Christopher Anderson, author of William and Kate: A Royal Love Story, recounted the royal breakup. According to him, there were talks that Prince William's mother was involved in their separation.
"I was in London when the breakup [of William and Kate] occurred. I was shocked, completely stunned, everyone thought it was only a matter of time before William was going to ask Kate to marry him. And then people started telling me that Camilla was behind it," Anderson said in 2016, Express reported.
When asked why she wasn't supportive of Middleton and Prince William's relationship, Anderson claimed that "Camilla is a bit of a snob."
"She's an aristocrat, she has always been moving in Royal circles. She had always thought of herself as the heiress to Alice Keppel, her great-grandmother, who was the mistress of Edward VII," the author explained.
"She was very proud of that connection, she boasted about that as a child and as an adult and that's what she intended to be; part of the Royal circle in the role of mistress to the future king, and then the king."

Queen Consort Camilla Didn't Find Kate Middleton Worthy To Join Royal Family?
Kate Middleton grew up in a working-class family. In Anderson's opinion, Queen Consort Camilla didn't think Middleton was worthy of joining the firm, which was why she allegedly didn't like her for Prince William, the future king of Britain.
"She did not look at Kate as someone who was worthy of joining the Royal Family. Kate is the first working-class woman to be accepted into the Royal Family. She is descended from coal miners and her mother was a flight attendant," Anderson continued.
"So for all those reasons Camilla never really felt that Kate Middleton as an individual and the Middleton family as a whole were going to be worthy of entering into the Royal Family. I was told at the time of the breakup, and later on as well, that Camilla basically whispered in Charles's ear that it was really time to make — to force — William to make a decision one way or the other."

Anderson added that King Charles did suggest to his son to commit to Middleton or set her free. He added that His Majesty's motive "may have been pure," but Camilla's "not so much."
Despite Anderson's previous claims about Queen Consort Camilla and Middleton's relationship, the pair has since put up a united front.
King Charles, Queen Consort Camilla, Kate Middleton and Prince William are the new fab four, and all of them are committed to the monarchy. Also, British journalist and Prince Harry's biographer Angela Levin said the Prince and Princess of Wales have enjoyed a warm relationship with King Charles' wife.
"With Prince William, it's absolutely good. With Catherine, it's very good. She often goes out with Camilla and King Charles to see art exhibitions. William's not so keen on that, but [Kate] goes. They're very warm," Levin told host Erin Molan of Camilla's relationship with the Waleses. "There's a marvelous picture in the papers today of the four of them standing together, smiling, looking very relaxed. [It has a] 'we're working together' sort of feeling."
