Burt Reynolds Actually Turned Down Star Wars’ Han Solo Role And The 1960s Batman

Yesterday, news broke out that the iconic actor Burt Reynolds passed away Thursday morning at the Jupiter Medical Center in the state of Florida, breaking the hearts of fans around the world.

Known as a charismatic actor that radiated light-hearted "good-ol'-boy" charm, Reynolds was an A-list actor of Hollywood back in the 1970s, playing in films like the Boogie Nights, Smokey and the Bandits, Deliverance, Gator, and White Lightning.

In the wake of Reynolds passing, fans have been going through the movie icon's filmography, discovering that the actor had actually passed up on some roles in big franchises. Mirror just recently republished a previous interview with Reynolds, and during the discussion, the Once Upon A Time In Hollywood star opened up about a few of the roles he passed on during his career as an actor.

Not only did Reynolds pass up the opportunity to become Star Wars Han Solo, he also turned down the chance to play Batman in the 1960s Batman series. He even said no to becoming James Bond.

"I don't think there's any actor who doesn't think he's made bad career choices," Reynold told the publication in the interview. "I was recently with my friend Clint Eastwood, who's had one of the most successful careers of all. We were laughing about the mistakes we made and he talked about a couple of films he wished he hadn't made. I have a lot more than that! You learn from it though – you learn to be a better actor."

According to Reynolds, turning down those roles seemed like a good idea at the time, but in retrospect was something "really stupid."

"But you can't regret things like that, you have to move on," Reynolds said.

It's painful to hear that Reynolds passed away. Though the official cause of death has yet to be released, word has it that the 82-year-old icon passed away because of a heart attack – something which doesn't come as a surprise, considering the issues Reynolds has had with his heart. We send our deepest sympathies to Reynolds family. We hope he's in a better place now.
