Buffy the Vampire Slayer’s Alyson Hannigan Talks About The Upcoming Reboot

Early in July, word broke out that Fox was starting work on a reboot of Joss Whedon's supernatural/ drama television series, Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Nabbing Monica Owusu-Breen as the series' writer, producer, and showrunner, Fox has also managed to bring back Whedon as the reboot's executive producer.

The new Buffy the Vampire Slayer reboot which is to be pitched to different streaming and cable networks this summer aims to bring a richly diverse cast, and Fox's goal is to bring an African-American lead to the series.

Speaking with E! News, original series star Alyson Hannigan (Willow Rosenberg) opens up about her thoughts about the upcoming reboot. While the star has no idea whether there might be any plans to bring her character or her husband's (Alexis Denisof) character back in the upcoming Buffy the Vampire Splayer reboot, Hannigan believes that it's going to be a great show with Whedon involved.

"As long as Joss is involved it will be good, I'm sure," the actress said.

Of course, while there's been a lot of excitement over the upcoming reboot, Hannigan believes that the original Buffy the Vampire Slayer series holds up pretty well on its own, saying that it's a show that goes ahead of its time.

"That show was just so incredible and I think sort of ahead of its time," the actress said. "Honestly, they should just put reruns on primetime. I feel like the old show would still hold up. At least that's what people keep telling me. Now the fans of the show, their children are watching so we have a whole other generation. But I don't know I just hope [the reboot] is as good as ours was."

Right now there's very little information about the upcoming reboot, but we're hoping to learn more as soon as Fox begins production.
