Jon Favreau's Star Wars Series has Almost Twice the Budget of Game of Thrones 1

It may be more than a year before we get another Star Wars film in theaters, but Lucasfilm is making up for it by giving us some Star Wars on the small screen. Besides the animated Resistance and returning Clone Wars, we're also getting a live-action show from director Jon Favreau. We still don't know much about the upcoming series, but the budget has now been released online.

According to The New York Times, Lucasfilm is spending close to $100 million for 10 episodes. To put into context, the budget for the first season of Game of Thrones was estimated $50–60 million. This Star Wars show has roughly the same budget as the more later seasons of Game of Thrones, but with more episodes under its belt.

So far, the only story detail we have about Favreau's series is that it takes place seven years after Return of the Jedi. Though I'm up for seeing some new faces, I would like to run into some familiar characters as well. Why not give us an Admiral Ackbar or a young Poe Dameron?

The show is expected to start shooting later in the year. Fingers crossed Favreau has something special in store for the Star Wars universe. After all, he's the guy who launched the MCU with Iron Man.

No release date has been set for Favreau's Star Wars series, but it is expected to debut alongside Disney's streaming service next year.
