Following the release of the first teaser back in March, avex pictures have released a new teaser trailer for Break of Dawn, the upcoming sci-fi anime film. Along with the teaser, the movie’s release date, cast, and staff have been announced.
This new trailer may only be a bit over 30 seconds long, but it gives us more glimpses at the film’s impressive sci-fi visuals.
The second Break of Dawn teaser revealed the two main cast members. Starring as protagonist Yuma Sawatari is Hana Sugisaki. She is knowns for starring in the 2018 Bleach live-action film as Rukia Kuchiki and Takashi Miike’s Blade of the Immortal as Rin Asano.
Joining her is Aoi Yuki as Nanako, a robot with artificial intelligence. Yuki is a popular voice actor who’s well-known for her roles as Madoka Kaname in Puella Magi Madoka Magica, Tsuyu Asui in My Hero Academia, and Mami Nanami in Rent-A-Girlfriend.
Leading the anime’s staff is director Tomoyuki Kurokawa (Psychic Detective Yakumo) who is joined by screenplay writer Dai Sato (Doraemon: Nobita's Little Star Wars 2021).
Other members of the staff include character designer pomodorosa, chief animation director Takahiko Yoshida, and music composer Masaru Yokoyama.
Break of Dawn is an upcoming anime film by anime studio Zero-G, and it is based on the manga of the same name which was released in Kodansha’s Monthly Afternoon back in 2011.
The film follows Yuma Sawatari, a fourth-grader in the year 2049. Yuma is obsessed with robots, space, and the comet SHIII-Earlville, a large comet that is set to collide with Earth.
In the story, Yuma encounters an extraterrestrial being through his family’s AI robot. Soon, he finds out that the said being is connected to the coming comet.
Break of Dawn is set to release in Japan sometime in October 2022. Currently, there’s no word yet on when the anime film will release outside of Japan.
