Brandon Routh's Superman is Coming Back for CW's Crisis on Infinite Earths

Brandon Routh's Superman Returns isn't fondly remembered by many, due to some of the weirder plot elements that it tackled but it did have some great moments. Routh looks like a young Christopher Reeves and that scene where he stops the airplane from crashing is genuinely good. Just a shame that they had a terribly unfunny Lex Luthor and the whole "Superman impregnated Lois Lane before leaving her" sub-plot.

Still, many thought that Brandon Routh as Superman had a lot of potential so fans are going to be very happy to know that he's reprising the role for CW's Crisis on Infinite Earths crossover. This is rather surprising since a.) no one ever thought that Superman Returns would ever be referenced again and b.) Brandon Routh is already playing The Atom in CW's Legends of Tomorrow.

Wild.

It looks like DC and CW are fully embracing the whole multiverse concept, though this isn't the first time they did this. Fans were still blown away when they revealed that the ‘90s Flash series existed in the multiverse and they even used that version of the character during one of the recent Arrowverse crossovers. Now, if only they'd include some of the previous DC movies in this multiverse.

The CW's Crisis on Infinite Earths will debut this December and is going to run till January. Storylines from The Flash, Arrow, and Supergirl will be referenced, making it one hell of a payoff for CW DC fans.
