Reports surfaced on Saturday that Superman: Legacy is already in its casting phase and if the latest rumors are to be believed, it looks like we're "super" close to finding out which set of actors will feature in the anticipated film.

Per The Hollywood Reporter, names like David Corenswet, Tom Brittney, Andrew Richardson, Emma Mackey, Rachel Brosnahan, Phoebe Dynevor, and Samara Weaving are vying for the Superman and Lois Lane roles, respectively.

Meanwhile, X-Men star Nicholas Hoult is being eyed to play Kal-El's biggest nemesis on Earth, Lex Luthor. Deadline's Justin Kroll was quick to debunk it, however, saying that Gunn discussed the role with one of his Guardians of the Galaxy cast members.

Twitter insider MyTimeToShineHello confirmed the reports surrounding Gunn's desire to cast a GOTG actor as the DCU's Lex Luthor. Turns out, it was Bradley Cooper but the tipster says the Rocket Raccoon voice actor isn't doing the project.

As it stands, there have been conflicting reports surrounding the film's Lex Luthor actor but Gunn has been playing coy about it. Personally, I'm already sold on the idea of Nicholas Hoult becoming the thorn in Superman's side but given how nothing official has been set in stone, I guess we'll just have to be extra patient until the casting has been finalized.

DC Studios' Superman: Legacy is currently eyeing a July 11, 2025 release date. Meanwhile, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is screening in theaters worldwide.
