During the filming of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, its leading star Letitia Wright was involved in a controversy due to her sharing of an anti-vax, transphobic, and homophobic video which caused a backlash from fans. There were also reports that she allegedly shared her anti-vax sentiments on the set of the film which has since then been denied by people in the production.
Now, in a recent interview with The Guardian, Wright settled the issue once again and iterated that she has already moved on from the controversy as well as apologized to those who were affected by the statements that she made. She also clarified that the video that she shared does not align with her values.
"I feel it’s something I experienced two years ago and I have in a healthy way moved on. And in a healthy way I’ve apologized and deleted my Twitter. I just apologized for any hurt that was caused to anybody," she said. "Those are things that I am not and I apologized and I’ve moved on."
When asked if she already gotten vaccinated, the actress repeated her response and asked the interviewer to give a different question, "I have apologized and I have moved on. Next question. Thanks."
Ever since the press tour for the film, the issue resurfaced again and the actress has been avoiding any questions surrounding her controversy. This seems to be the last time that we might see her discuss the issue since she is obviously keen on moving past it at this point.
With Boseman and T'Challa gone, Wright has become the new lead of the Black Panther franchise and, without spoiling the end of the film, it looks like this is the new beginning of her brighter future in the MCU and we should be seeing more of her moving forward despite the past controversies.
