Boruto fans are still buzzing with excitement following the release of the manga’s newest chapter. This makes sense as Boruto: Two Blue Vortex features lots of new character designs for its cast which got a lot of attention.
Even before the manga’s return, Boruto and Sarada’s new looks have been shared in promo visuals.
With the new chapter’s release, fans have been treated to even more updated designs.
Aside from new character looks though, the latest chapter also trended as it introduced the Hidden Leaf Village’s new Hokage.

Boruto Fans Are Surprised By the New Hokage
The events of Boruto before the time skip saw Kawaki trapping Naruto in a different dimension. Though because of Omnipotence, everyone believes that Boruto killed Naruto, forcing him to go on the run.
Of course, this means that a new Hokage must be chosen. Now, the latest chapter has revealed the Eighth Hokage, and it’s none other than Shikamaru Nara.
In the new chapter, Shikamaru is joined by Konohamaru Sarutobi as his chief aide, though it wasn’t revealed how Shikamaru was chosen to become the next Hokage.
Fan reactions varied following the reveal. Some believe that Shikamaru shouldn’t be the Eighth Hokage and that Kakashi Hatake should’ve returned instead.
Although, Kakashi returning was something that many weren’t counting on. After all, while Kakashi has appeared in the anime, he hasn’t appeared at all in the Boruto manga.
Meanwhile, others think that Shikamaru is the logical choice as the next Hokage because he has served as Naruto’s aide for the longest time.

Fans Can’t Get Enough of Two Blue Vortex Character Designs
While the new Hokage made waves in the fanbase, the post-time skip character designs got the most attention, enough that Boruto trended on X (formerly Twitter) shortly after the chapter’s official release.
Much has already been said about Sarada and Boruto’s new designs, but the praise isn’t limited to just these two.
Online, lots of fans also praised the new designs of Himawari, Sumire, and Chocho.
From the looks of it, the praise from fans is unanimous as pretty much everyone lauded illustrator Mikio Ikemoto for his new post-time skip designs.
Now though, the question will be if the story in this new arc will be worth the hype as it develops.
Boruto: Two Blue Vortex will return with its second chapter next month. The new chapter will be released outside Japan on Shonen Jump and Manga Plus.
