It’s going to be a dry couple of months for Boruto fans as several leakers have reported that the Boruto: Naruto Next Generations manga will go on a three-month hiatus following the release of the upcoming chapter.
The previous manga chapter featured a huge development involving Boruto and Kawaki.
Now, the following chapter promises to be just as big, though it will be the last one in a while.
This upcoming hiatus mirrors that of the anime, which recently entered its most significant break to date.
Boruto Anime’s Recent Hiatus
Previously, it was announced that the Boruto anime will enter a lengthy hiatus.
Specifically, the anime’s Part 1 is officially over, with the series set to return as Part 2.
This was an interesting development and is akin to the original Naruto manga which split into Naruto and Naruto Shippuden.
But the difference here is that Boruto Part 1 ended before the expected time skip.
For reference, the original Naruto anime ended with Naruto going with Jiraiya to train.
The series then returned with Shippuden, which is set two-and-a-half years after.
While this is the first hiatus of its scale for the anime, this isn’t strictly the first time the anime went on a break.
Back in April 2020, the anime had a two-month hiatus, though this was because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
A likely reason for the new hiatus is the fact that it might catch up to the manga.
Though now, fans will have to wait even longer for the anime’s second part given that the manga is also set to take a break.

Boruto Manga Likely to Return After Three Months
There’s no official word on the hiatus yet, but it is already being reported by several notable manga leakers.
The hiatus news comes alongside leaks of Chapter 80, which is said to have major developments for Sarada Uchiha.
Based on the leaked info, the Boruto manga will go on a three-month hiatus, meaning it will resume with Chapter 81 on August 20, 2023.
For now, fans will have to wait until Thursday, April 20, for an official announcement of the break as that is the day the next Boruto chapter will be released.
Currently, there’s also no word yet on when the Boruto anime will return with Part 2.
While there will be a lack of Boruto content in the coming months, fans can at least look forward to the upcoming return of the original Naruto anime.
