At this point, many fans are wondering what anime isn’t going to be affected by the recent delays. This is because BOFURI Season 2 is another Winter 23 anime that got delayed due to COVID.
While anime delays aren’t new, the Winter 23 season is unprecedented for the sheer number of shows that were moved or postponed. BOFURI is the latest show to get affected, though it’s thankfully not a lengthy delay.
BOFURI Season 2 Delay Announcement
Winter 23 began like any other anime season, but things quickly went south for a lot of productions. First, NieR: Automata Ver1.1a was delayed following its third episode. Then, other shows like Ayakashi Triangle were also affected.
Some shows were hit harder than others. While Nier is finally returning this month, Kubo Won’t Let Me Be Invisible will instead return in the Spring 23 season.
Thankfully for isekai fans, BOFURI isn’t among the most heavily affected as the anime will have a two-week delay following the release of Episode 6 tomorrow.
The announcement of the delay was made via the series’ official website. There, the new schedule for the anime was detailed.
As expected, the previous episodes will be re-aired on the show’s Japanese TV network timeslots.
As for the reason, the spread of COVID in China was once again blamed. This is the same reason as most of the other recent anime postponements.
While some have criticized Aniplex for the delays, BOFURI is an anime produced in part by Kadokawa. This means multiple production companies have been affected by recent events.

BOFURI Season 2 New Release Schedule
BOFURI: I Don't Want to Get Hurt, so I'll Max Out My Defense Season 2 Episode 7 was supposed to air on February 22, but it is now delayed to March 8.
Because of this, the first two episodes will be re-aired on February 22 and March 1.
On March 8, the anime will return with the 7th episode. Episodes 8-10 will also be released during the next scheduled dates.
However, this isn’t the end of the delays, as Episodes 11 and 12 will also be postponed, meaning they will not air following the 10th episode.
Right now, there’s no word yet on when the last two episodes of BOFURI Season 2 will be released.
There’s also no info on whether the anime will get a full rebroadcast or if the last two episodes will simply be released once they are ready.
