The long-awaited second season may not be coming anytime soon, but fans have more to look forward to as Bocchi the Rock! announced that it is getting a stage play that will begin very soon.
This Bocchi play was announced just recently via a new official website and Twitter account.
Alongside the announcement, the stage play’s August production date was released.
Given that the play will happen in just under two months, it’s expected that the cast and other info will be revealed soon.
Bocchi the Rock! Continues to Get New Projects, Despite No Season 2
It may not have had much hype ahead of the Fall 22 season, but Bocchi the Rock! quickly won over anime fans all over the world thanks to its loveable cast, wholesome story, and great original music.
Thanks to these, Bocchi became one of the biggest anime hits of 2022, enough that many were expecting it to quickly get renewed for a second season.
Sadly though, even if it has been nearly half a year since the Season 1 finale, there’s still no word on a second season.
Despite this, interest in the series is still high, not to mention that fans continue to be treated with new Bocchi the Rock! projects.
For instance, there’s an upcoming compilation film that will be released in 2024. There’s also the new single which featured two brand-new tracks.
Along with these, more Bocchi merch is being made, including the Nendoroid figures for Nijika, Ryo, and Kita.

Bocchi the Rock! Is the Next Anime to Get the Stage Play Treatment
The latest project in the franchise is the new stage play that’s titled Live Stage "Bocchi the Rock!" which will run this August in Tokyo.
There are no details revealed yet regarding the play’s cast and story. It’s also unclear if this will be a musical, as is the case with the stage adaptations for anime like Spy x Family.
Though it’s likely that this play will cover the events of the first season, and it may feature musical performances of the anime’s original songs.
At least, fans won’t have to wait too long, as the initial run of the play will happen from August 11-20, 2023, at the THEATER MILANO-Za in Tokyo.
Because the run is only a bit over a week in length, a recording of the play will likely be released in Blu-ray form in the future, as was the case with the Lycoris Recoil play.
