It might not be a Season 2 announcement, but fans are still excited about this new Bocchi reveal. Recently, publisher Houbunsha announced that a new Bocchi the Rock! spinoff manga is in the works, and it likely stars Kikuri Hiroi of SICK HACK.
This upcoming spinoff was announced via the Comic Fuz Twitter account, with Comic Fuz being Houbunsha’s manga app.
While the reveal did not come with much info, it does feature a teaser visual that pretty much confirms that the main character is Hiroi.
Bocchi the Rock!’s Meteoric Rise in Popularity
If you ask anime fans what Bocchi the Rock! is before the Fall 22 season, chances are that they’ll have no idea.
After all, while the Bocchi 4-panel manga has been serialized since 2017, it was a fairly niche title until last season.
Thanks to the creative anime adaptation by CloverWorks, Bocchi the Rock! quickly became one of the most talked-about shows of Fall 22.
This is an impressive feat given that it was up against the likes of Bleach: TYBW and Chainsaw Man.
After its run, the anime got lots of praise from fans and critics alike. In fact, it even swept many year-end awards and polls.
This proves how well-received the anime is among fans both in Japan and overseas.
The anime’s popularity also boosted the sales of the manga, enough that Houbunsha had to order reprints of the manga volumes.
Given its success, it’s likely that we’ll see a second season in the future.

Bocchi the Rock! Gets New Spinoff, Possibly Featuring Hiroi
There might be no word yet on a second season, but fans will still be treated to a new Bocchi project, but this time, they won’t be following Hitori Gotoh.
The spinoff’s announcement came with a teaser visual that revealed its main character.
While the character only appears as a silhouette, the sake bottle and the geta pretty much confirm that this is none other than Kikuri Hiroi.
She may not be part of the Kessoku Band, but Hiroi is an important character in Bocchi the Rock! After all, she’s the one who helped lift Bocchi’s spirits ahead of her performance.
As this manga is a spinoff, there’s a chance that we’ll see more of Hiroi’s youth.
Maybe it’ll even show how she became such a raging alcoholic, and hopefully, it shows her weening off it for her future self’s sake.
Currently, there’s no word yet on a release date for this new spinoff manga.
