Bob Iger and Bob Chapek Address Disney Employees After Big CEO Shakeup

There was a whole lot of surprise when word came out yesterday that Bob Iger was stepping down as the CEO of the Walt Disney Company. The media executive had been the head of the Mickey Mouse House for more or less fifteen years, increasing the profit of the media company by acquiring major studios like Pixar, Marvel, Lucasfilm, and more recently, 21st Century Fox.

Resigning from his position so that he might handle creative projects as the executive chairman of Disney, Iger decided to pass on the role of CEO to Bob Chapek, the former Chairman of Disney Parks, Experiences, and Products.

Now, it looks like Iger and Chapek have come together to address Disney's employees. According to a report by Deadline, Disney held a town hall in Burbank so that Iger and Chapek could discuss the recent CEO shakeup with the Mickey Mouse House's employees. The town hall which lasted for an hour was broadcasted to other locations around the world.

During the gathering, Iger reiterated the transition of powers over to Chapek, saying that his successor now has "full authority" as CEO of Disney. Chapek, on the other hand, reassured employees that the CEO shakeup wouldn't bring any "big changes" in the horizon.

The town hall atmosphere was "upbeat," with Iger and Chapek reportedly sharing "an easy rapport" on stage. The gathering ended with a question and answer session, however, no further details about Iger's sudden decision to resign from his position as CEO was revealed. Instead, employees decided to use the time to thank Iger for everything that he's done for Disney.
