In just a few weeks, the upcoming DCEU film Blue Beetle is set to arrive in theaters and a lot of fans are looking forward to seeing the titular hero's big-screen debut after decades of being a beloved character in the comics.

However, compared to the other recent DC films that were released, the hype for Blue Beetle is not as strong as they're hoping it to be despite its groundbreaking status since it will be the first Latino-led superhero movie in the DC franchise.

It also doesn't help that the other DCEU films that were released this year were box-office flops which show that there is now less enthusiasm for the franchise, especially as it is also transitioning into the reboot under James Gunn and Peter Safran.

You can also add the fact that Barbie and Oppenheimer have been performing strongly at the box office at the moment and its legs are expected to last for several more weeks which could affect the upcoming releases such as Blue Beetle.

Blue Beetle is Now Projected to Have an Underwhelming Box Office Performance

Box Office Pro recently published their current projections for Blue Beetle where they revealed that they are forecasting another disappointing box office performance for the DC franchise.

Aside from being projected to potentially have the worst domestic opening weekend box office in the DCEU franchise, it is now also being forecast to have an overall domestic box office of around $27-55 million, which could also make it the lowest domestic box office earner in the DCEU.

Wonder Woman 1984 is currently on the bottom list as it only grossed a total of $46.8 on its overall domestic haul. However, this was released at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic where a lot of theaters were still closed so the low numbers were inevitable.

This is obviously the type of performance that Warner Bros. and DC Studios don't want to see for the film since it will be another consecutive flop and the character is also being set up to become part of the new DCU franchise.

Since we're still a few weeks away from its release, it could still change and the forecast could be higher if more people start to become more interested to see the film and whether it will also have massive presales (although it is unlikely at the moment).

The marketing campaign for the film will also be different since the cast won't be able to promote it themselves due to the actors' strike where they are forbidden to do any promotional activities.

We also have to consider the fact that the character is new to the general audience so there is some unfamiliarity and it will take more convincing to attract more people to show up in theaters and see it.

However, there is also a possibility that the Latinx community will show up to the film and give it the support that it needs which will boost the buzz and make it the hit that it needs to be.

For now, let's wait and see how it will all unfold in the coming weeks as the situation is changing and could still go on an upward trajectory.
