Country music star Blake Shelton has released a new song, which he had originally written for his now-wife Gwen Stefani for their wedding. Shelton wrote the song "We Can Reach the Stars" for Stefani and sang it to her during their July wedding.

Shelton first announced the release of his new single on Thursday on social media before it was actually released at midnight. In his post, Shelton said that instead of writing his vows for the wedding, he instead chose to surprise Stefani with the song.

Stefani later shared the news on her own Instagram account, exclaiming that the song was the most "amazing beautiful gift" she had ever received. Stefani added multiple hashtags to her post, professing her happiness and love to her husband.

Singing His Vows At Their Wedding

The two "The Voice" hosts tied the knot at Shelton's Oklahoma ranch in a chapel that he built for Stefani. The event was attended by only 40 guests, which were comprised of the couple's immediate family and friends. Their fellow host, Carson Daly, officiated the nuptials.

Daly also weighed in on the release of Shelton's latest song on social media. In his comment, Daly claimed that he was the one that forced Shelton to release the song as his new single.

"You didn't decide to! I forced you to. Thank Jesus too, yielded the best wedding moment & a hit song! You should buy me a tracker w the royalties cowboy," Daly said in his comment.

Daly said that Stefani was the first to read her vows to Shelton. He joked that it was the typical vow, but it still brought tears to everyone in attendance. Daly said he then told Shelton to "Top that," even though he knew he had written her a song.

Daly recalled that Shelton grabbed a guitar and a stool and began "singing" his vows to his now crying bride. Daly said the song was definitely one of the highlights of the entire ceremony.

How It All Began

After five years of dating, the pair announced their engagement in October 2020. Stefani posted an Instagram selfie of herself showing off her engagement ring while kissing Shelton.

The country singer later shared the same photo, stating in its caption how Stefani had rescued his 2020 and the rest of his life.

The lyrics of Shelton's latest song include passages that detail his love for Stefani and how far he would go for her love. Parts of the song tells of how Stefani has inspired him to "reach the stars."

The now 45-year-old country singer and the 52-year-old "No Doubt" frontwoman met in 2014 as co-coaches in the hit television show "The Voice."
