Marvel Studios has been working on their long-gestated Blade reboot for years and has suffered a lot of setbacks so far with director changes and multiple writers being hired to take a crack on the MCU movie.

Around this time last year, Bassam Tariq, who was originally attached to helm the film, exited the project due to production changes and creative differences. Months later, Yann Demange eventually replaced him and is still attached to direct the film as of this moment.

The project also underwent a lot of changes in its writers with names such as Stacy Osei-Kuffour and Michael Starburry previously hired to pen several drafts before they were let go. True Detective writer Nic Pizzolatto is now the latest person who is attached to write the script.

The film's supposed production start date last summer was also temporarily suspended due to the writers' and actors' strike that halted all major productions across Hollywood.

With so many setbacks that have happened since then, fans are wondering now about the latest status of the project. Will they be able to finally start filming again when the actors' strike ends? Is the script already in good shape? As it turns out, that may not be not the case yet.

The Script for Blade is Reportedly Being Rewritten Again

According to a recent scoop from insider Daniel Richtman, the script for Blade is being rewritten again from scratch.

It is unclear yet why they made such changes again to the script. Marvel Studios has also not commented yet on the rumor.

There are a lot of speculations that we can consider surrounding this rumor. One thing that is clear here is that Kevin Feige, Mahershala Ali, and Demange may not be happy yet with the recent draft of the script and they want to revise it as they can while they still have time.

It is likely that Pizzolatto is behind the current version of the script that is being rewritten since he was hired on the project right before the writers' strike and he has to sit out for months before he can resume his work.

However, this is yet again another obstacle that the project is facing if the rumor is true since we've seen too many reports at this point about the setbacks that they have frequently faced and some fans have questioned whether the film is still happening.

The only advantage that they have at the moment is that they still have enough time for the script since the actors' strike has not ended yet and they might only be able to start production by early next year if it concludes in a few weeks.

There is no doubt that this is a concerning update and all we can do for now is hope that things will go well after this and all the setbacks are just history once they start production in the near future.

Blade is currently slated to release in theaters on February 14, 2025.
