Marvel's Blade Filming Date Reportedly Delayed

There has been a lot of anticipation for the MCU reboot of Blade ever since Oscar-winning actor Mahershala Ali was announced to play the titular vampire hunter back in 2019. The solo film project has been in the works for a while now and we've heard several updates in the past few months including its supposed production start date next month. However, it looks like that is no longer the case.

According to The Cosmic Circus, Blade is now set to begin filming instead this October at Tyler Perry Studios in Atlanta, Georgia. The project was previously going to start production this July according to past reports prior to this change. Besides Atlanta, they are also set to film in New Orleans, Louisiana, and possibly in Morocco although it doesn't appear to be certain yet.

So far, none of the major trades have reported this change in the project's production date nor an official confirmation from Marvel Studios regarding it so we still have to take it with a grain of salt. However, the site has reported a lot of reliable information in the past so there is a possibility that it is true.

While it might be disappointing to hear that the film will begin production instead in October, it looks like it can still make it on its rumored late 2023 release date since they still have a significant amount of time for post-production. There's also a possibility that the film might release instead of early 2024 to give themselves a longer stretch of time. Either way, the film is still happening and Marvel is obviously working hard on making sure that our favorite vampire hunter will have a great solo film debut in the MCU.

Bassam Tariq is set to direct the film. Stacey Osei-Kuffour wrote the screenplay. Besides Ali, the other confirmed cast members in the film are Delroy Lindo, Aaron Pierre, and Milan Ray.
