Black Widow will Go to ‘Uncomfortable Places’ for Natasha Romanoff

Fans were ready for the release of Black Widow in May, but due to the Coronavirus Outbreak, the film has been officially delayed. Nevertheless, promotion seems to be going as planned, we have a new bit about Natasha Romanoff and her journey in the film.

Talking to Empire, Scarlett Johansson talked about getting back in the film and really delving into Natasha's character. She says:

"I don't really have the perspective on it yet… I think it will take some time for it to sink in. It's been such a constant in my life for a decade of time. Every 18 months, coming back to this family and continuing the journey with everyone… I think we all probably have mixed feelings about it, at least in specific scenes, but I really had a sense of accomplishment [after shooting finished on Black Widow]. I feel like I tried it all this time around. I really got to go to all those uncomfortable places and explore certain recesses of her."

Director Cate Shortland also said, "I wanted to give [Black Widow] justice. It gave us this feeling like, ‘I've got one chance and I really want people to understand her and to feel empathy for her,' because often what you see is a very fetishised construct. We wanted to get under her skin."

Admittedly, it is weird that Natasha should be in the MCU for so long and not have the same kind of character development that the likes of Tony Stark or Thor go through. Though we know that she has a dark past, we already meet her as a force for good, and she's spent ten years just quipping with everyone while kicking butt.

Though the film has been delayed, I'm sure everyone will be happy once Natasha Romanoff gets her time in the spotlight.

Black Widow has been postponed indefinitely.
