Black Widow Screenwriter Gets Writing Credit For Captain Marvel

The future of the MCU is kind of unknown right now, with no one knowing what the next slate of films after Spider-Man: Far From Home, the last Marvel movie of 2019. With Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 getting delayed big time, many are expecting Black Widow and The Eternals to be the next big Marvel movies. It looks like things might be looking good for the former since one of the film's writers, Jac Schaeffer, has been busy.

According to a production sheet of Captain Marvel (via ComicBook.com), Schaeffer was actually one of the writers for that film, receiving a credit for it. Since Schaeffer is also writing the Black Widow movie, it's clear that Marvel Studios has a lot of faith in the writer since they're having him pull double duty on other projects. If Captain Marvel rules, Black Widow might as well.

While everyone is expecting the Scarlett Johansson-starring vehicle to be one of the MCU films coming out in 2020, the truth is that nobody knows, that is unless you work for Marvel or Disney. Considering how we can't even get the title for Avengers 4 yet, not knowing about their plans for 2020 isn't too surprising, though it is still disappointing.

In fairness to the company, it's a great way to avoid spoilers. Most of us know that Spider-Man is coming back, thanks to the new movie coming out next July. However, the fact that the 2020 MCU slate is mostly unknown could be considered positive.

Captain Marvel comes out on March 8, 2019.
