Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is still happening this year despite the unfortunate passing of Chadwick Boseman back in 2020. Still, Angela Bassett says that T'Challa was still very much a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe sequel, stating that Boseman was with them every step of the way.
Angela Bassett recently attended the Marvel panel at Disney's D23 Expo where she was joined by her Black Panther: Wakanda Forever co-stars Leticia Wright, Winston Duke, and newcomer Tenoch Huerta (via Marvel.com). During the panel, Bassett pointed out that working on the sequel was truly exciting.
"It was an amazing experience and we absolutely look forward to bringing to you. This is the calm before the amazing storm," Bassett said. She then shared how Boseman was the one who inspired them to work hard on Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.
"Chadwick was with us every step of the way, he paved the way. We had to meet his level of excellence," Bassett said.
There is little doubt that Chadwick Boseman is just as proud of the cast and crew of Black Panther 2. Winston Duke, who will return as M'Baku in Wakanda Forever, hyped up the crowd by confirming that fans will finally get to revisit T'Challa's home.
"We are back! I am excited for everyone to see Wakanda," Duke said.
Letitia Wright was also in attendance and she admitted that she is hoping Boseman is happy with what they have done with the sequel.
"So many great new characters attached to this franchise and to this story. I’m so excited how impactful this story will be. I’m excited for my bro to look down on us and smile," Wright said.
Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is written and directed by Ryan Coogler. The new MCU sequel will premiere in theaters on November 11, 2022.
