Black Panther Star Michael B. Jordan To Co-Produce and Star in New Mecha Anime Series

Black Panther and Creed star Michael B. Jordan never hid his love for anime and now, he's going to co-produce and star in his own series. The actor who played Killmonger in Black Panther will be part of gen: LOCK, a new animated web series created by digital entertainment company Rooster Teeth.

The science fiction anime series is centered around Jordan's character Julian Chase, a fighter pilot tasked with protecting Earth's last free society alongside a small group of new recruits. When it becomes clear that the society is in real danger of being destroyed, a mecha programme is established which puts pilots in the driver's seats of gigantic weaponized robots and Julian is the first to be a part of it.

"We are excited beyond belief to announce Michael B. Jordan as the voice of Julian Chase in gen:LOCK and welcome him to the Rooster Teeth community," Rooster Teeth's Head of Animation and gen:LOCK creator Gray G. Haddock said.

He added: "Michael's visionary career choices and commitment to meaningful entertainment, not to mention his love of anime, line up perfectly with what drives Rooster Teeth, and we're thrilled for the opportunity to do some cool sci-fi storytelling together."

Jordan won't just be a voice actor for gen: LOCK. His company Outlier Productions will also be co-producing it.

There's still no word on when gen: LOCK will be released but we do know that you're going to have to sign up for Rooster Teeth's streaming service to watch the show. The anime series will be released exclusively on Rooster Teeth's content platform on RoosterTeeth.com and across apps (Xbox One, iOS, Android, and Apple TV), which require a paid subscription.
