Black Panther Makes It To Barack Obama’s List Of Favorite Films This Year

Barack Obama just revealed his favorite films of the year and it looks like the former president of the US really enjoyed Marvel's Black Panther.

Taking to Facebook, Obama decided to share all his favorite music, books, and films of 2018. The former US President has always been pretty active on social media and during the past few years, Obama's been listing his favorite things at the end of every year.

Major Oscar contenders like IfBeale Street Could Talk and Roma were listed in Obama's favorite films of 2018, as well as critically acclaimed indie entries like Shoplifters and The Death of Stalin. One of the pop-up titles in his list is Ryan Coogler's Black Panther.

Obama's always had pretty high brow taste, and it's pretty great seeing Black Panther make it to his list. There's been a lot of great comic book movies this year, and Black Panther's one of the best of the best.

Chadwick Boseman's first standalone film as the King of Wakanda broke so much ground when it premiered back in February. It was Marvel's first all-black comic book movie, a film that proved to Hollywood that filmgoers wanted to see more diversity and representation in cinema.

Not only did Black Panther rake in more than $1 billion at the box office, but it also became the first comic book movie to receive a nomination for Best Picture at this year's Golden Globes. Now, Marvel is working on getting Black Panther at this year's Oscars.
