Black Panther Cast Discusses Ryan Coogler's Sequel

Now that Black Panther is nominated for an Oscar, all eyes are on the Marvel movie, with fans wondering if it will become the first superhero film to get the Best Picture award. It's also getting a sequel as director Ryan Coogler has signed a deal to return for the second film, which should mean that it will be consistent with the first.

While it's hard to guess the quality of sequels, some of which do well while others fare poorly, the cast of Black Panther feel like the follow-up is in good hands. Sterling K. Brown even said that the film could be of Godfather II quality, which is a high bar to set. Seriously, Godfather II is one of the best sequels ever made.

In fairness, Marvel has had a pretty good track record when it comes to sequels. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 might not be as fresh as the first film but it makes up for it with stellar use of the film's characters. Captain America: Winter Soldier was nothing like The First Avenger, moving towards espionage and government conspiracies whilst still feeling like Captain America.

Then again, there are also bad sequels like Iron Man 2, Avengers: Age of Ultron, and Thor: The Dark World.

Avengers: Endgame comes out on April 26.
