When it was reported a while ago that Narcos: Mexico star Tenoch Huerta was cast to join Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, there were rumors that he will be playing Namor in the upcoming film. So far, there has been no confirmation regarding it. Recently, it was reported that the film has moved its production to Puerto Rico and, now, a recent social media post has sparked the casting speculation even further.
Huerta recently posted on Instagram a photo of Benito Juarez's sculpture in San Juan, Puerto Rico which renewed the speculation regarding the actor's casting as Namor in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, especially knowing that the film is currently in production at the same place at the moment. You can check his post below:
While Huerta's post doesn't directly mean that he is playing Namor in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, it does hint even further that he might be playing the character. After all, he is at the film's shooting location at the moment and, given that Puerto Rico is known for being a tropical place, there is a reason to believe that he is in the area to film his scenes as Namor considering the kind of surroundings where he is at.
Right now, neither Marvel Studios nor the filmmakers nor the confirmed cast involved has made any confirmation that Huerta is playing Namor in the film. There's a possibility that they might reveal it during the trailer or they will do some announcement at some point during the marketing.
It is exciting to hear that there is a possibility that Namor will be introduced in the upcoming film since fans have been wanting him to debut in the MCU for some time now. It will take some time before we get to hear an official confirmation regarding the role that Huerta will be playing. All we can do for now is speculate until we hear from Marvel.
Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is currently scheduled to be released in theaters on November 11, 2022.
