While the film was announced earlier this year, we’ve yet to hear more news about the upcoming movie. But now, it seems that a new Black Clover movie announcement is coming this week.
Recently, the show’s official Twitter account shared that an update on the upcoming movie will be released within the week. This was shared in a tweet alongside other information.
The tweet was shared in part to mark the fifth anniversary of the Black Clover anime as it began airing on October 3, 2017. It also included a special illustration of the main character, Asta.
Black Clover is an anime series by Pierrot that’s based on the manga of the same name by Yuki Tabata.
It began serialization on Weekly Shonen Jump back in 2015. Meanwhile, the anime ran from 2017 to 2021 and consisted of 170 episodes.
Its story follows Asta and Yuno, two orphans who grew up together after being abandoned at a church. The two aim to become the “Wizard King” – the strongest mage in the kingdom.
Of the two, Yuno seems to have what it takes given that he is an expert magician and is considered a prodigy.
Meanwhile, Asta lacks any magical abilities whatsoever, so he sets out to train his body physically so he can still be the Wizard King.
Soon, the two of them obtain grimoires. Yuno gets the four-leaf clover grimoire while Asta obtains the five-leaf clover grimoire. This grants Asta anti-magic abilities. Thus begins their journey to become the next Wizard King.
Following the anime’s run, the upcoming Black Clover movie was announced, and it will be released sometime next year.
However, there are not a lot of details yet regarding this film.
The TV anime ended before the Spade Kingdom Raid Arc, and at a pretty big cliffhanger to boot.
Given this, many fans are excited to see if the movie will continue the story. And if it does, it’ll be interesting to see up to what point it will cover.
The Black Clover movie announcement should come within the week, and it might reveal an official release date.
It’s also possible that a trailer, or at the very least, a key visual will be shared.
As of now, it’s only confirmed that the movie will be released sometime in 2023.
