After over a decade of development, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson's DC project has finally been realized and the question on everyone's mind is, will Black Adam actually face off against Superman in the DC Extended Universe?

According to reports, Warner Bros. is adamant about hitting the reset button on the franchise after The Flash, with Batgirl and Supergirl assuming the positions of Bruce Wayne and Clark Kent in the Justice League. However, The Rock offered a conflicting update and seemingly confirmed that the Man of Steel's days in the DCEU are far from over.

Now, Black Adam producer Beau Flynn breaks his silence on the anticipated clash between Kal-El and Khem-Adam and he seems to confirm that Superman will in fact be returning soon. In an interview with journalist Néstor Bentancor (via Comic Book Resources), he said: "The expectations [surrounding a Black Adam/Superman fight] are on our radar and we want to service the fans."

Flynn added: "Right, we really do... we listen. We want to give the world what they want, give the fans what they want. It's very exciting, all the different directions we can go. We do have a pretty good handle on all of that. We've had a lot of conversations with DC and Warner Bros. and they are very, very supportive... all of their energy is behind Dwayne, and they know how he can take things to different places through his platform and his fanship. We are honored and privileged to be part of the DC Universe and I think we'll take it to some places that will get people really excited."

The question is, should Ka-El make his triumphant return to the DCEU, will Henry Cavill actually reprise the role? Considering Henry and Dwayne are good pals in real life, it would of course be safe to assume that his version of Superman will be the one going head-to-head with Black Adam.

The latest rumors surrounding the actor's San Diego Comic-Con appearance seem to support it as well and there's a good chance he'll make the announcement during the Black Adam panel. Let's keep our fingers crossed.

DC's Black Adam is scheduled for theatrical release on October 21, 2022.
