Birds Of Prey: What Jurnee Smollett-Bell Could Look Like As Black Canary

DC may already have its slate covered for the next year, but 2020 is still wide open, and the only film with an official release date so far is the upcoming all-woman team-up Birds of Prey. Jurnee Smollett-Bell has been cast as Black Canary in the ensemble, and thanks to artist Dratinti, we have a mock-upof what Smollet-Bell could look like as Dinah Lance.

For one, I love how this design actually incorporates the blonde hair that Black Canary has in the comics. Seeing that Smollet-Bell is a black actress, I would guess that they would keep her natural hair color for the film, but it looks like she could pull off blonde with this image. Black Canary is also known for her trademark fishnets, and I think this look manages to nail it without making it look impractical for crimefighting; it seems to be in the same vein as Harley Quinn's outfit from Suicide Squad.

The ensemble for Birds of Prey is almost complete, what with Rosie Perez cast as Det. Renee Montoya. The rest of the cast includes Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn and Mary Elizabeth Winstead as The Huntress. The only member missing is Cassandra Cain, and it's rumored that they're looking for a young girl close to 12-years-old to fill in the role.

After the success of Wonder Woman, WB is looking to bank on more female heroines in the future. Let's hope that Birds of Prey manages to keep everyone interested.

Birds of Prey is set for a release on Feb. 7, 2020.
