Birds Of Prey Star Mary Elizabeth Winstead Teases Production Start Date

We finally know when Birds of Prey will begin production. Mary Elizabeth Winstead has revealed that she will start working on the highly anticipated DC Extended Universe film early next year.

Winstead recently spoke to Bionic Buzz where she offered some details about the movie. The 10 Cloverfield Lane actress described Birds of Prey as "sort of a spinoff of Suicide Squad."

"It kind of follows Harley Quinn, which is Margot Robbie's character from those films, and this sort of girl gang that she puts together. I play Huntress, and we've got Black Canary, played by Jurnee Smollett-Bell, and Rosie Perez and Ewan McGregor. It's a really fun, fun cast. We haven't started shooting yet, but we start shooting in January, and I can't wait."

It's interesting to note that Winstead also confirmed that McGregor is officially part of the Birds of Prey cast. The former Star Wars actor has previously been rumored to play Roman Sionis aka Black Mask in the film.

Winstead had previously teased on her character Helena Bertinelli getting a new weapon in the movie. The Scott Pilgrim vs. The World star had somehow stated that she is looking forward to getting archery lessons although Huntress is known for using a crossbow. It's still possible that Winstead had made a minor error in the previous interview.

Birds of Prey will be directed by Cathy Yan. Although the film was previously slated for release on February 14, 2020, Warner Bros. has moved it up by a week. The movie is expected to hit theaters on February 7, 2020.
