Fans have been speculating for a while that Ewan McGregor's Black Mask and Chris Messina's Victor Zsasz could be more than just friends in Birds of Prey. Seemingly confirming their sexuality in a recent interview, it looks like the pair will have a pretty unique and wild relationship.

Speaking to Cinema Blend at the recent Harleywood event, both Messina and McGregor were asked regarding the relationship that their characters have in the upcoming movie. "He's obsessed with Roman," Messina revealed. "[Roman] is like the Pied Piper. He's so charming and funny and powerful. And then when he turns, it's very violent." The actor says these are the traits that Black Mask has that Zsasz is very much in love with. "We had a blast," he added.

The trailer for Birds of Prey doesn't quite reveal much of the pair's relationship yet, but a brief clip in the teaser shows the two together, which got fans really excited to see their dynamic. Both actors have been coy when asked about their characters' real relationship and it'll be interesting to see how the movie will be able to tell their story.

While a number of fans have already speculated about Black Mask's sexuality in the upcoming movie, some aren't really fond of the idea that the villains would be gay. That being said, most fans support the idea of the crew's take on the characters.

Aside from McGregor and Messina, Birds of Prey also stars Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Huntress, Jurnee Smollett-Bell as Black Canary, Rosie Perez as Renee Montoya and Ella Jay Basco as Cassandra Cain.

Birds of Prey (And The Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) is set for release on February 7.
