Birds of Prey Joins Joker, Logan, and Deadpool as an R-Rated Superhero Movie

Margot Robbie's wish has been granted. Birds of Prey (And The Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) is officially an R-Rated superhero movie, joining Joker, Logan, Deadpool, Dredd, and others. It's still a rarity to have characters from Marvel and DC in an R-Rated film but that seems to be a barrier that is slowly getting beaten down, which is a very good thing.

Considering how Harley Quinn came from an abusive relationship, Black Canary is a singer for a murky-looking bar, and Huntress seems to be an assassin of sorts (maybe a hunter? lol), it's good that they decided to pull the trigger on a Birds of Prey R-Rated movie. Does that mean the movie will be good? We can hope but the trailers have been pretty interesting thus far.

Fans are pretty mixed about Birds of Prey, due to the lack of comic book-accurate costumes and the fact that women are the lead characters. Normally, most people would be fine with this since Birds of Prey comics mostly comprise of female heroes but we know there are a certain section of fans out there who will go ThOsE dArN sJWs.

While the movie does look weird, it could still be fairly original when compared to a regular superhero film. DC has been on a roll lately, with Aquaman, Shazam, and Joker proving to be huge successes. Birds of Prey and Wonder Woman 1984 could continue that combo chain.

Birds of Prey (And The Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) is coming out on February 7, 2020.
