Along with the second season’s premiere this week, Birdie Wing fans are treated to a new project announcement. Recently, VIVERSE announced that a new Birdie Wing video game is in the works for the Nintendo Switch.
This upcoming game was unveiled via a new trailer that showed off some gameplay footage, giving fans an idea of what to expect in this game.
While game adaptations of anime are quite common, a Birdie Wing video game is quite unexpected given how young the series is compared to other sports anime.
Birdie Wing -Golf Girls' Story- Game for Nintendo Switch Announced
Most of the popular sports anime such as Kuroko’s Basketball, Haikyuu!!, and Yowamushi Pedal are based on existing manga. Birdie Wing is different as it’s an original anime by Bandai Namco Pictures which only began last year.
It may not seem like a huge show, but Birdie Wing has become successful enough to get a second season.
Now, a new video game is in the works, with its first trailer being released here:
Aside from the show’s surprising popularity, it makes sense that this golf anime is getting a Switch game if you think about it.
After all, golf games are quite popular, with titles like Mario Golf and PGA Tour being successful sales-wise.
What’s also interesting to note here is that the game is being developed by VIVERSE, a company that’s best known for the HTC VIVE VR platform. Though this Birdie Wing game is not a VR title as it’s made for the Switch.
This won’t be the only Birdie Wing project from VIVERSE though, as there are also other projects in the pipeline, including a VR park, a metaverse, and a mobile game.

Birdie Wing Video Game Story, Gameplay Revealed
The English-language trailer for the game showed off some in-game footage, though the gameplay mechanics weren’t explained in detail.
But there is more info about the game on its Nintendo eShop page. There, it’s revealed that the game will have a story mode that recreates the first season’s storyline.
There will also be a free mode where players can use the Joy-Con swing controls to play rounds of golf against each other.
Based on the description and the trailer, the game will likely let players take on the role of the game’s characters and experience their Season 1 journey.
The gameplay will also likely be similar to other golf games on the Switch.
The Birdie Wing -Golf Girls’ Story- game will be released on the Nintendo Switch on June 15, 2023.
