There were several questions left unanswered in the horror flick Bird Box. Like, where are the creatures from and why were they trying to kill people off? However, the biggest question in everybody's mind may have been, What do the creatures actually look like? The last query has finally been answered by a new image of the creatures.
The photo was shared by special effects studio SFX Atlas. The picture was revealed on their official Instagram account and somehow confirms that the creatures were supposed to be revealed in the Netflix movie but the idea was scrapped. Take a look at the post below.
According to the post, the creatures were crafted by the KNB EFX team. "Andy Bergholtz sculpted and pre-painted the prosthetics. Stephen Prouty went to set and applied the makeup on actor Dirk Rogers," they wrote.
So why were the creatures removed from the final cut? It may have something to do with Sandra Bullock's reaction to the creature's appearance. The Bird Box lead admitted that she thought the creatures looked funny and the crew may have decided that it would have the same effect on the viewers.
The creatures certainly don't seem as threatening when you see their true form. However, Bird Box made it clear that their appearance changes depending on who sees them. As it was stated, they could take on the appearance of your worst nightmare.
Bird Box also starred John Malkovich, Trevante Rhodes, BD Wong, Sarah Paulson, and Rosa Salazar. The film is currently streaming on Netflix.
