Fans are still buzzing about Scarlett Johansson's legal battle with Disney over Black Widow's release model and despite the fact that both parties have been suspiciously quiet over the last couple of days, it doesn't look like the issue will subside anytime soon especially with the actress being quite adamant about winning her case.

To give you a little refresher, Scarlett's camp is accusing the House of Mouse of breaching their contract with regards to the release strategy for Black Widow which marks her final appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The film was originally intended to be a theater-exclusive release and according to Johansson, she wasn't aware that the film will be made available through Disney+ in a "hybrid release".

Surprisingly enough, the Natasha Romanoff actress' Marvel colleagues, especially her closest friends have not aired their sentiments regarding the matter much to the chagrin of MCU fans. Now, Benedict Cumberbatch is breaking his silence over a month since the lawsuit was made public.

Speaking with The Hollywood Reporter, the Doctor Strange star offered his two cents regarding the issue which he describes as "just a bit of a mess." He said: "It's sad what's going on between the lawyers. Just the verbiage and the accusations of, ‘Put it in a global pandemic context.' The whole thing's just a bit of a mess. We're trying to understand what the revenue streams should be for artists that contribute to the billion-dollar business that is Disney. And it has to be contractualized."

I don't know about you but it seems to me like Cumberbatch was playing it safe by not verbalizing his support for Johansson and directly calling out the company amid their legal battle. I guess it's understandable as he doesn't want to jeopardize his own Marvel career but it's quite baffling how besides Elizabeth Olsen, none of Johansson's co-stars have voiced their support for the actress.

Black Widow is still streaming via Disney+'s Premier Access.
