Benedict Cumberbatch Confirms MCU Return in Upcoming Project

Benedict Cumberbatch's last MCU appearance was last year when he reprised the role of the titular sorcerer in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness which ended up becoming a huge box office hit as it almost grossed a billion dollars.

While the end of the film gave us some hints about where the character's next adventure will take place, Marvel Studios has not announced a third solo installment yet nor they have confirmed whether he will appear in the upcoming Avengers films.

Now, it sounds like the actor's next venture in the MCU has been set as he finally announced his highly-anticipated return to the franchise.

Benedict Cumberbatch Will Film an MCU Project Next Year

During his recent appearance at JW3 Speaker Series (via The Direct), Cumberbatch revealed that he will be returning as Doctor Strange in an upcoming MCU project that is set to film next year.

However, he didn't provide any details about what exactly the project is whether it's a third Doctor Strange film or he will co-star in an ensemble or another character's solo movie.

"There are some Marvel capers in the making next year," he said.

While there is a lack of details at the moment regarding his highly-anticipated return to the MCU, it is still exciting nonetheless that we have a confirmation that he is set to show up on another project very soon.

For months, there have been rumors that a third Doctor Strange movie is in the works so there is a possibility that Cumberbatch will be working on that although Marvel Studios has not announced yet a potential third solo movie for the character.

There is also a chance that the Oscar nominee will be filming for the upcoming Avengers movies although that could also be unlikely as Marvel Studios recently delayed their respective release dates.

Nevertheless, this is delightful news for fans who have been waiting for updates regarding Cumberbatch's next MCU project and it sounds like it is now set to happen soon than what we might have anticipated.
