During an interview with The New Indian Express, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness star Benedict Cumberbatch responded to a bunch of questions, including the possibility of returning for Doctor Strange 3. "I hope so," Cumberbatch said. "I would love to do another one. Doctor Strange is such a complex character and it feels like there is so much more to explore with him. He is such a brilliant character and I’m still having a wild time playing him."

Well, Cumberbatch's return to the MCU and the possibility of Doctor Strange 3 is a no-brainer at this point. In fact, Cumberbatch's Doctor Strange is a character that would unquestionably return and play a substantial role in the MCU’s future, most especially now that the MCU is slowly crafting the next big Phase. Phase 4 centered on the Multiverse and variants, who else could possibly lead the next roster of Avengers better than Doctor Strange?

Aside from that, Marvel Boss Kevin Feige had already anointed Cumberbatch as the new anchor of the MCU, after Marvel veteran Robert Downey Jr. stepped out from the role of Iron Man after triumphantly playing the character for more than a decade, so it serves as another assurance that Cumberbatch would remain in the MCU for a longer run.

For now, the waiting game would surely be long again for Doctor Strange to return for a solo film, but he can still appear in other MCU films and Disney+ shows. Thankfully, Benedict Cumberbatch appears to be always ready for his return.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is now available to stream on Disney+.
