The cancellation of The Punisher has certainly inspired ire from Frank Castle fans. Interestingly, even Eminem is dissing Netflix for the Marvel series was axed just a month after the premiere of Season 2. Not surprisingly, Ben Barnes is loving the rapper's reaction to the news.
Marshall Mathers, aka Eminem, recently posted a message for Netflix on Twitter regarding the cancellation of The Punisher. The Real Slim Shady declared that the streaming giant is "blowing it" for pulling the plug on the show. Barnes, who plays Billy Russo in the series, took note of the tweet and had a fitting reaction. This is certainly in line with Barnes' initial reaction to The Punisher being canceled. The Westworld actor admitted that he was "gutted" that he wouldn't be able to find out what will happen to his character in the third season.
The Punisher isn't the only Marvel series that has been axed. Iron Fist, Luke Cage, Daredevil, and The Defenders have all been canceled as well. Although Jessica Jones Season 3 is still expected to air on Netflix later this year, it will be the final season for the show as well.
The cancellation of the Marvel shows has truly been a sore topic for fans. However, it has been revealed that Netflix opted to pull the plug on the shows due to steep licensing costs.
For now, we can mourn the cancellations. Nevertheless, there is still a possibility that all shows will be brought back sometime in the future.
