Robert Pattinson will be taking the mantle as the Caped Crusader in Matt Reeves' The Batman. While it might have been a surprising casting for some, former Batman Ben Affleck thinks the actor will be perfect for the role.

In a recent interview with Jake Hamilton to promote his upcoming film The Way Back, Affleck shared his thoughts on Pattinson playing the iconic character. "I think Robert's a great actor," he said. "He's going to do great."

Affleck then admitted that he has stepped away from the role after losing interest in playing Batman. "The movie deserves to be made by somebody who's dying to do it and can't wait," he added. "That wasn't me at the time, so I moved on."

The actor also recently opened up about The Batman project in a previous interview. He says that while the script was good, he was told that he could drink himself "to death" if he goes through what he "just went through again."

As for Reeves' film, production has been underway for a while now and the director has already shared a glimpse of Pattinson's Batsuit. Fans finally got a good look at the costume when set photos of the actor's double got around, which shows Batman riding his Batcycle in a very dark and militaristic suit.

Although it is unfortunate that fans of Affleck won't get to see him return as the Dark Knight once again, just like the actor, we should move forward. For now, fans can look out for Reeves' The Batman which is scheduled for release on June 25, 2021.
