While it has a dedicated following, the Mistaken for a Cat light novel series will soon be discovered by more anime fans. Recently, the I'm a Behemoth, an S-Ranked Monster light novel was confirmed to have an anime adaptation in the works.

The anime was revealed via the show’s newly-launched official website. There, the first three cast members have been revealed.

What makes this show interesting is that it’s reminiscent of My Life as Inukai-san’s Dog, an anime that became infamous for its ecchi premise.

Officially titled I'm a Behemoth, an S-Ranked Monster, but Mistaken for a Cat, I Live as an Elf Girl's Pet, this light novel began in 2018 and has since received a manga adaptation.

Its story follows a knight named Tama who is slain in battle and is then reincarnated into the body of a monstrous behemoth. The catch is that he starts his new life as a behemoth cub instead of a fully-grown one.

As a cub, he looks exactly like a kitten. Because of his new form’s cuteness, he soon becomes the pet of a beautiful elf named Aria.

Given that it follows a guy reincarnated as a cute animal, comparisons to My Life as Inukai-san’s Dog will no doubt be made.

There are some key differences though. This upcoming anime is set in a fantasy world. While it also has ecchi elements, its focus is more on Tama and Aria’s adventure.
