Batman Beyond: Movie Looking for Asian-American to Play Terry McGinnis

Batman Beyond voice actor Will Friedle had expressed his interest in returning to the character of Terry McGinnis when an animated movie was announced, but it looks like he won't be able to come back to the role.

According to insider Daniel Richtman, the Batman Beyond movie is said to be looking for an Asian-American actor to play Terry.

This surely comes as a disappointment to a lot of fans of the show, plus Friedle himself who posted:

With Friedle not likely coming back for the role, I guess the movie is looking to revamp the entire story of Terry for a whole new audience. The show ended back in 2001, and it's likely that a lot of kids today don't even know who Terry McGinnis is. At least with an Asian-American actor, there's going to be some more representation for the Asian kids out there—the same with how Miles Morales had become a new hero for the young black community.

With Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse getting all the buzz from last year, it looks like WB wants in on the animated superhero movie market. They've been making animated films for years, but not one of them have been able to go to the territory of comic book movies. Hopefully, they manage to capture a very unique voice with this version of Batman Beyond.

If anything, I hope they at least give Will Friedle and Kevin Conroy a guest role. They can't just ignore how integral those two were to the original show.

No release date has been set for the Batman Beyond movie.
