Barbie Fans Want Ryan Gosling Replaced; Argues He's Too Old For The Role

Ryan Gosling has been a Hollywood heartthrob since his role in 2004’s The Notebook starring alongside co-star Rachel McAdams. However, it would seem that his most recent role as one of the ‘Ken’ barbies in the Greta Gerwig-helmed Barbie movie at Warner Bros. has fans wanting to replace him with someone ‘younger’, considering Gosling is now seemingly ‘too old’ for the role.

Hollywood has never been kind to actors, no matter what accomplishments and career feats brought them to fame in today’s times. It would seem that some fans are pointing out that Gosling’s role as Ken has them ‘genuinely terrified’ and suggested other actors such as James Marsden to take the titular role, instead.

It is worth mentioning that Greta Gerwig is an acclaimed director who also helmed 2017’s Lady Bird and 2019’s Little Women, both of which received high praises from critics and audiences alike.

If you are familiar with Gerwig’s works, you would know that she takes her projects through the roof when it comes to storytelling and as fans have realized, Ryan Gosling being cast as Ken is no sudden choice (and a no-brainer for some).

Margot Robbie’s Barbie plot synopsis reads: “After being expelled from Barbieland for being a less than perfect-looking doll, Barbie sets off for the human world to find true happiness.” You can now watch the teaser trailer below:

Greta Gerwig’s Barbie cast includes Margot Robbie, Simu Liu, Ncuti Gatwa, Emma Mackey, Hari Nef, Kingsley Ben-Adir, Scott Evans, Dua Lipa, Ana Cruz Kayne, Sharon Rooney, and Michael Cera.

Other cast members featured are Issa Rae, Kate McKinnon, Nicola Coughlan, Alexandra Shipp, Ritu Arya, Will Ferrell, Connor Swindells, Jamie Demetriou, America Ferrera, Emerald Fennell, and Helen Mirren.
