Avengers: Infinity War Unlikely To Beat Star Wars: The Force Awakens At The Box Office

Avengers: Infinity War might be on a roll at the box office, but it seems like analysts don't really expect the first installment in Marvel's two-part Avengers movie to beat Star Wars: The Force Awakens when it finishes its theatrical run.

Though the film comes pretty close with its $2.02 billion, Forbes says that Infinity War still won't be able to beat The Force Awakens and take the Star Wars movie's place as the third highest grossing film of all time. With a little over than an $8 million global gross during the weekend, the publication says that Marvel's crossover superhero movie is likely to finish with a global total over or under $2.04 billion.

But that's not really a problem for Marvel. Though the film didn't really manage to surpass Star Wars' grand return to cinemas, the film broke a lot of records during its run. Not only did the film beat the Force Awakens at the domestic box office during its opening weekend, it also outperformed The Fate of the Furious at the international box office. The film also became the fourth movie to join the $ 2 billion club along with Avatar, Titanic, and of course, The Force Awakens.

Besides, Marvel could always try to beat The Force Awakens again next year with the untitled sequel to Infinity War. Who knows.

Avengers: Infinity War is currently screening in cinemas.
