Avengers: Infinity War Takes The Top Prize at VES Awards

Marvel Studios

Marvel's Avengers: Infinity War has won the top prize at the VES Awards. This is the first time a Marvel Cinematic Universe film received a Visual Effects in a Photoreal Feature Award.

The award was given at the 17th awards ceremony from the Visual Effects Society, Deadline reports.

Infinity War also took home three other awards, including Outstanding Animated Character in a Live Action Feature Motion Picture for Thanos, Outstanding Effects Simulations in a Photoreal Feature for Titan, and Outstanding Compositing in a Photoreal Feature for Titan.

The third Avengers film was also nominated for Outstanding Effects Simulations in a Photoreal Feature for its depiction of Wakanda but lost to itself. Infinity War was also nominated for Outstanding Model in a Photoreal or Animated Project for Nidavellir Forge Megastructure but lost to Mortal Engines for its depiction of London.

The film is a top contender for this year's Best Visual Effects at the Oscar's but the competition is tough. Other nominees include Ready Player One, First Man, Solo: A Star Wars Story, and Christopher Robin. Do you think Infinity War deserves to win an Oscar this year?

Avengers: Infinity War is now available on Netflix and on Blu-ray, DVD, and digital. Captain Marvel is set to release in theaters on March 8, and Avengers: Endgame on April 26.
