Avengers: Infinity War Star Scarlett Johansson Is Now 2018’s Highest Paid Actress

Marvel star Scarlett Johansson might have been at the center of controversy after getting cast as a transgender man in Ghost in the Shell director Ruper Sander's new film, Rub and Tug, but it looks like the Infinity War star has just become Hollywood's highest-paid female actress.

According to Forbes, Johansson has just recently dethroned Emma Stone as the highest-paid female lead star in Hollywood, earning around $40.5 million in pretax earnings from June 2017 to June 2018. That's a pretty high number, and it's put her on the very of the top of a list that used to include Gal Gadot, Reese Witherspoon, Jennifer Lawrence, Angelina Jolie, and Jennifer Aniston.

While fans might feel a bit divided when it comes to the controversy surrounding Johansson, there's no doubt that the actress earned her spot after appearing in Avengers: Infinity War, a film which was a major success for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Not only did the film make major waves at the box office, it was also wowed fans and critics. Besides, Johansson has also been with Marvel for almost ten years, and so it's very likely that her price as an actress has gone up since her first appearance in the MCU in Iron Man 2 back in 2010.

Avengers: Infinity War is currently available on Digital HD and Blu-Ray.
