Avengers: Infinity War is now on its fourth weekend in cinemas and it looks like the first installment in Marvel's two-part Avengers movie is on its way to raking in $2 billion at the box office.
According to Exhibitor Relations, Infinity War is now at a total of $1.638 billion, bringing a whopping $30.7M at the box office. Though that might seem a lot less to you now, $4.6 million of that was taken from Infinity War's domestic earnings. $26.1 million of that number came from the film's international box office with China accounting for $17.6 million of the earnings.
China might be a bit picky when it comes to Hollywood movies, but the Chinese market still proves to be a pretty lucrative oil-well for Marvel. The Chinese box office has proven to be helpful in Avengers: Infinity War's growth.
Now, at this rate, given Infinity War's growth, the superhero crossover movie is bound to reach the $2 billion mark like Star Wars: The Force Awakens. It wouldn't be a surprise given the film's commercial success. Not only did Infinity War break records during its opening weekend, beating Star Wars: The Force Awakens at the domestic box office and The Fate of the Furious at the global box office, it's also become the fast film to reach a billion dollars. Let's wait and see when exactly the film finally gets to cross the $2 billion mark.
Avengers: Infinity War is currently screening in cinemas.
